Massage Therapy
Kay Levesque, CMT
As a graduate of the Boulder College of Massage Therapy, I received over 1000 hours of supervised training in Zen Shiatsu, Swedish, neuromuscular therapy, sports and orthopedic massage. I gained experience with cardiac, oncology, and post-operative patients through my internship at Boulder Community Hospital while my internships at the University of Colorado and the Colorado Crush gave me the opportunity to work with competitive athletes. As an expert mountain bike racer and telemark skier, I bring to my work a personal understanding of the needs of athletes. I enjoy balancing specific, treatment-oriented approaches with soothing, relaxation techniques in an effort to promote well-being and to foster healing and recovery. A life-long learner, I will continue to seek out training in an effort to better serve those seeking comfort and well-being. I am a member of the American Massage Therapy Association and am in the process of seeking national certification.
Neuromuscular Therapy
Designed to address postural dysfunction and repetitive stress and traumatic injuries, these very specific techniques help alleviate pain, decrease muscle tightness, increase range of motion, realign scar tissue, and restore mobility and strength. The techniques I use include cross fiber friction, trigger point therapy, muscle energy techniques, myofascial release, lymphatic drainage, and deep pressure.
Sports Massage
You may be training for an event, you may be recovering from an epic adventure, you might have an injury, you may be pro, you may be an average athlete with worthy goals...whatever your interest, sports massage can only help you. Sports massage speeds recovery, aids in both injury prevention and healing, reduces pain, and increase range of motion and muscle strength. The pace is generally a bit faster and the work often very specific and deep.
Orthopedic Massage
Although designed to address various disorders and misalignments, ortho techniques work great with all clients. My techniques help with TMJ, spinal misalignments, joint pathologies and injuries, as well as overuse or sports-related conditions. The treatments focus on rehabilitation, maintenance, and improved overall condition.
